Hello all,
I am glad to be able to announce the immediate availability
of the GNUmed 1.8.0rc2 Prerelease.
Downloads available from:
http://www.gnumed.de/downloads/client/1.8/
This is a special release in the following respects:
1.8 does NOT need a new database over 1.7 !
Yes, you can (and must) run it against your existing
v22 database. This will NOT change over the lifetime
of any future 1.8 releases.
1.8 requires Python 3.
Debian $> apt install python3
Look for packages for your distribution.
Windows/Mac: https://www.python.org/downloads/
1.8 requires wxPython 4.
Debian $> apt install python3-wxgtk4.0
Look for packages for your distribution.
Windows/Mac: https://wxpython.org/pages/downloads/index.html
You can use a mix of 1.8 and 1.7 clients against the same
databse in parallel. This is the whole point of this release:
Enable users to get their python3/wxpython4 installations all
set up and possibly find any remaining bugs (I have run this
code in production without issues for several MONTHS).
Database upgrade (existing DB):
Not needed (see above).
Make sure, however, you have installed the latest v22
fixes from the latest 1.7/v22 release.
Database installation (new DB):
If you wish to install a fresh database (either if you do
not yet have a database or if you want to ignore and
OVERWRITE any existing GNUmed databases) you have several
options all of which WILL DELETE existing databases !
Your platform may provide new server packages in which
case you can likely use the systemwide install script:
$> gm-bootstrap_server
If you are installing from a server tarball you can use the
script provided in the download:
$> cd .../server/bootstrap/
$> ./boostrap-latest.sh
or, again, the network based installer:
http://www.gnumed.de/downloads/server/net_install-gnumed_server.sh
More information on installation is found here:
