Well, it is mainly lab techs working during times that the office of the *doctor* who ordered the tests is closed (say, Wednesday afternoon or on a Saturday). But on occasion I am aware, in the case of bizarre clinical conditions (typically hematologic) technicians are scheduled to work into the evening or may be asked ad hoc to work overtime at the direction of a concerned lab doctor. But likely you appreciated this and were just joking. :-)
