I doubt you'll get a meaningful estimate of when the thing will be
ready, if it hasn't even been started. On the other hand, if you felt
like doing some work on it, you could help push it along.

Maybe a better question might be, 'what are the GNUe dependencies that must
be met before this part of the project can be started/finished?'
