First, I apologize for making such a curt reply. However, I believe that 
software is only truly free if it depends only on free software. Oracle 
is a problem, but J2EE is also a problem, AFAIK, only certain J2EE 
functionality is available free. If there is a free J2EE-compliant 
system that can run Compiere, then please let me know. However, this is 
the other hurdle.

As for the GPL, as long as software is under some Free Software license, 
such as MPL 1.1, it is acceptable for use in my eyes. Except Derek 
Neighbors has expressed some problems with it; what do you mean? I do 
not believe it is legal to revoke the MPL. However, actually 
contributing to a project that may be closed is a waste of resources.
