Currently gcd's are dead.  So we should not really discuss their types
until we are ready to open that conversation again.

I really believe the new version of app server for its first pass should
not be doing 'objects' and 'object relational' mapping.  Merely doing a
'distributed' common.  Then when that is working start looking at
getting more complex.
