[bug #66572] MakeProfiles continues after truncation for strong gradients

Follow-up Comment #1:

The problem was found to be due to the way we check for the first pixel (that
is the only pixel where truncation should have no effect!). The fix has been
implemented in

dbc5924e]; see the commit message for more details.

Here is the image showing the example profile mentioned in the first commit
before this fix (under "Bad") and after it (under "Good"):
