M-r, M-s for mail-hist

I love mail-hist more dearly than I can express, except to say that my love
for mail-hist is inspired by my deep and abiding love for minibuffer
history.  That being the case, it shocks me that I have gone so long
without consciously realizing that when my fingers type M-r after a M-p
from well-worn comint and minibuffer history reflexes, it Wasn't Doin' It.
(And I'm talkin' M-r M-r foo RET!  Yes, I make frequent use of regexp
searches on the minibuffer history list of regexps I've used to search a
minibuffer or comint history list, thank you very much--now stop looking at
me like that!)

Below please find a modified version of the mail-hist.el that
appears in GNU Emacs 20.7.1.  It Works For Me.
