Oh they are not.  That's not to say that the complaints don't have
some basis (they often do), but the complainers are (on average) every
bit as guilty of fanboyish wanking as the defenders.  They obsess over
the trivial, they make decisions for social reasons instead of
technical ones, they vote with their emotions.

As far as I can tell there is precious little going on the current SCM
boom that could remotely be described as "professional" (other than in
the vacuous sense that you get paid for it); at best, there are some
out there who are not entirely clueless.  But only just.
