Hello,

Did you know about Metadistros? It is a project to build live linux 
distributions based on Debian. They also have a Gnome live cd.

Maybe you could join some efforts with them. Their web page is in spanish:

But they have a white paper in english, and many developers will surely 
be happy to communicate in english.
