Hi,

I am sure this has been asked before so I apologise in advance.

I have just installed gnokii Version 0.6.29 on Debian Linux DLS022C00 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 14 09:42:28 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I would like to use a Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E620 USB Modem.

Via lsusb I see the following entry, Bus 001 Device 018: ID 12d1:1001 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E620 USB Modem

Via dmesg I see the following entry :

I have in /etc./gnokiirc the following entries

[global]

model = AT

port = /dev/ttyUSB0

connection = serial

As root I get with gnokii –identify

GNOKII Version 0.6.29

Couldn't read /root/.config/gnokii/config config file.

Lockfile /var/lock/LCK..ttyS0 is stale. Overriding it...

Telephone interface init failed: Command timed out.

Quitting.

Command timed out.

This happens whether I use USB0 USB1 or USB2 which incidentally are the only 3 defined /dev/ttyUSB on my system although it has 5 USB ports (it is an Acer Aspire EasyStore H-340M.

I have managed to send and receive SMS via windows gnokii using this modem so I know the modem is sound.

Can some kind person please advise me how to proceed, please.

Thanks and kind regards to all,

jB
