See the "Patric" entry? On the phone it reads "Patrick D.R. 16 Oct.".

Well, that *is* strange. But it seems to be gnokii bug. 00 05 28 is
probably one character.

The phone is Nokia 6230, RH12_28_-, V 05.24. Is the message shown the
raw data we receive from the phone, or is it the result of decoding by
gnokii? If it's the latter, where is it decoded?

It is exactly what we've got from the phone.

I see, but trying various settings is not faster :) .

If you want to use gnokii just once, you're right. But I don't think
it's true for most of the cases.

Uh, could you perhaps give a small example?

Try getting SMS with some fbus driver and with AT driver.

My point was, after we somehow identify the phone at startup, we use a
kind of a hard-coded translation table to choose the best protocol under
a given connection, and use that protocol for that session. At this
stage we can inform the user that specifying the model "xxx" in the
config file will make the startup faster (and, perhaps, other connection
possibilities).

Well, I'm thinking rather about providing a toll for autoconfiguration.

My problem is, trying various settings is very time-consuming. Wiki
content is very good, but one has to read it :) . I would prefer coding
it once, and forgetting about it. BTW, could you please give me write
access to the wiki? My user name should be "ibr".

Done. Please check it out.

take care,
pkot
