Dear Pawel,
first of all thank you very much for helping!

Here are in attachment the logs for:
-gnokii --identify
-gnokii --getsms SM 1
-gnokii --getsms ME 1
(sorry for some censoring...)

Another info, if it can help: even if smsd continuously produces
"GN_OP_GetSMSStatus at line 411 in file lowlevel.c returns error 5"
it works fine while sending sms.

This is what happened after an insert in "outbox" on mysql DB:
.
..
...
GN_OP_GetSMSStatus at line 411 in file lowlevel.c returns error 5
GN_OP_GetSMSStatus at line 411 in file lowlevel.c returns error 5
GN_OP_GetSMSStatus at line 411 in file lowlevel.c returns error 5
GN_OP_GetSMSStatus at line 411 in file lowlevel.c returns error 5

And the SMS was correctly received!
But when I replied from my mobile... nothing happened from DB side.. :-(
(even if the phone connected to the PC displays "Message received").
Note that stopping smsd and running "gnokii --getsms SM 6" I got the reply...

Bye,
Marco
