Thanks for your response.
I suspected that was what was meant!

I've tried kermit and minicom in this way with my Nokia 6310 (+ cable)
without success -- probably something to do with the init settings.

It doesn't matter at all, since gnokii works perfectly, thank you!
(Bluetooth only works spasmodically for me at present,
but that is almost certainly due to my settings,
so I won't say more about it here.)
