While you care about it I remembered one (just minor) drawback: My feature of
device_script() - gnokiirc parameters "connect_script"/"disconnect_script" -
- has limited usability when used together with "connection=tcp":

{,dis}connect_script is handy to use with chat(8) but chat(8) in usual
(default) configuration _requires_ termios-capable device and thus it fails
with TCP socket it gets. You would have to recompile chat(8) with termios
disabled or (better) improve "tcp.c" (or some higher layer) to use virtual
terminal (detected old ttypXX or new Unix98 ptys) when running the script(s).

But I just didn't need it, just connect_script XOR TCP - never together.
