You should split your mail into folders, so you will always know where
all messages in given folder came from. It's very easy with procmail.

Then you are wrong. I'm writing this email on an ancient laptop with 8"
display set to 80x29 mode. I would be much happier if 14 characters of
each subject weren't wasted for somthing obvious.
