The current stable version has OpenOffice.org and the next version will 
too. Note that there hasn't been a stable release of LibreOffice yet.

I noticed some issues with some DVDs too, but that seems to be not much 
better in recent versions of Ubuntu. I blame crappy discs.

I believe it's possible to watch the MP4 files from Youtube with Totem. 
If I have to watch a video from there then I usually use TinyOgg [1] myself.

To browse through a Flash site you need *a* Flash plug-in. gNewSense 
provides Gnash for that.
