Folks:My printer is an HP LaserJet P1006. An HPLIP plugin is required to run it, and in Ubuntu and the current Gnewsense, it is simply a matter of running hp-setup, which dowloads and installs, no problem.
But in the new Debian-based Mint, and in Fedora 14, this doesn't work. It says network connection not detected, even though it is there, an always-on DSL.
With Gnewsense, like Mint, moving to Debian, I'm afraid my printer won't work anymore. It seems that Ubuntu is configuring something no one else is.
Neither a Web search nor the Ubuntu forums were helpful. I'd rather stay with Gnewsense, but I don't want to forgo the next upgrade.
