The situation is a bit more complicated.

To make a long story short we don't have enough developers to backport
packages or make changes from the usual Ubuntu LTS releases.

Until we will get more developers the situation will remain the same.

Are you a developer? :)
Could you find a developer who could be interested in gNewSense?
