Hi Chris,

Thanks for your offer to help!

Here is what I am trying to do:

I want to install a GPLed video application called Miro.  The installation notes say the following:

-------

To install the latest version of Miro on Ubuntu Feisty, you need to add the following repository to your apt sources list:

deb http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/pculture.org/miro/linux/repositories/ubuntu feisty/

To install the latest version of Miro on Ubuntu Dapper, you need to add the following repository to your apt sources list:

deb http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/pculture.org/miro/linux/repositories/ubuntu dapper/

-----

Dapper did not work, feisty is dangerous, but I know that I least one person managed to install miro on gNewSense using an Ubuntu package.

any idea what the trick is?

Andrei,

I missed the previous email.

gNS is based on Dapper.  What is it you are trying to achieve?

If you have problems with your updates, please post your /etc/apt/sources.list file.

We'll do our best to help you.

Many thanks.

Cheers,

Chris.

Looks like the relevant package is from dapper-updates, according to
apt-cache policy on a dapper install here.

You may need the -updates repo for dapper in your sources.list

Don't attempt to install the feisty version.

ok. no feisty. but which repo exactly should I add to my sources? I suppose that you are talking about a Ubuntu repo and I wonder whether it is safe to mix gNewSense repos with Ubuntu repos?
