What kinds of updates do you want to be notified about? Do you want e-mail
everytime any package is updated? Everytime a new CD is released (1.0,
1.1, ...)? Everytime a major upgrade happens (from deltad to ...)?

If you want e-mails about every package that gets updated, you may want to
look at a package called 'cron-apt'...

I was after the gNewSense equivalent of
debian-security-announce[1]. Will cron-apt tell me why things were
updated as well as what was updated?
