I am assuming you know something of the /etc/apt/sources.list file.

>From the menu:

System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager

Do some configuration magic with the Choose the sources from there.

Menu Settings Repositories.

Add in Source.

Search for kernel stuff and click on what you want.

Beyond that you would need to be very specific about what you mean about
/usr/src is a good place to look for the kernel source.

The barb you could get as much satisfaction from some other location is
actually so wrong it is way beyond silly.
