I think that this kind of thing is very much needed for gNewSense,
because IMO high design values is the biggest thing Ubuntu trumps
Debian with. Compare

This may seem like no real difference at all, and technically it is
true, but in terms of the 'user experience' or 'interaction design' it
means a lot.
Good icons that are consistent no matter what application is set to
open them by default is a small but significant interaction design
improvement.
A prettier-than-Ubuntu GNOME theme would also help - perhaps Murrine? :-)

Nice use of Gentium by the way! :-) www.openfontlibrary.org is just
getting started as a community for cataloging and collaborative
development of Free Fonts like Gentium :-)
