You can use MovieClip.loadMovie(<url>) to load a bitmap file
into a MovieClip/sprite (jpg, png, gif).
Then control their appearence using ActionScript.
Strict BitmapFilters (introduced in SWF8) are not yet implemented
in any of the Gnash renderers tought, so might need some coding there.
