bjacques fixed the bug which caused this to fail (it now works):

make DISTCHECK_CONFIGURE_FLAGS="--enable-renderer=cairo --enable-gui=gtk 
--enable-media=ffmpeg" distcheck

as does this:

make DISTCHECK_CONFIGURE_FLAGS="--enable-renderer=agg --enable-gui=all 
--enable-media=ffmpeg" distcheck

For 0.8.4, we should allow --enable-gui=all to work even if not all
guis are supported by that particular renderer.  I've looked at
configure.ac and while it's a straightforward change, it's a big
change and I don't want to put it into 0.8.3.

In the meantime, the error message now tells you what --enable-gui to use.
