Follow-up Comment #1, bug #41930 (project gnash):
I haven't try your code yet.
But I suspected that it might be due to a bug on Gnash's JavaScript
interface.
(Call from JavaScript -> Flash didn't work:

Thus, when you enabled Gnash, Youtube API tries to call into Gnash,
and failed silently.
When you disabled Gnash, Youtube API falls back to JavaScript/HTML5 player
(which didn't have this problem), thus succeeded.
