Details:

The problems I saw were with undefined symbols from boost program options. May
be due to this:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19729036/boost-program-options-wont-work-with-glibcxx-debug

Could be worth disabling the debug from boost program option users, but would
be even better to be able to tell if the boost libraries were or not built
with debugging symbols enabled.
