Follow-up Comment #2, bug #37012 (project gnash):
If the plugin failed, you may try using Gnash standalone to play Youtube movie
as a workaround in the meantime, by substituting '/watch?v=XXXXXX' bit in the
URL with '/v/XXXXXX'
For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87E6N7ToCxs (Disney's Wreck-It
Ralph trailer), run this command on the terminal:
gnash http://www.youtube.com/v/87E6N7ToCxs
If it plays, you could be certain that it's not a codec problem or Gnash
itself. But if it didn't play, it will confirm that problem rooted from Gnash,
not the plugin.
Also in your case, it seems that Gnash failed on loading the player (rather
than video), so checking the "Be verbose about parsing the movie" box in Gnash
preference may give useful information for developer. Set logging verbosity to
2 might reveal something too.
I'll try to confirm this if I have a chance to set up an Ubuntu or Debian
installation via PearPC emulator. (I'm using i386)
