Yes, I'm sure reducing the heartbeat is very helpful in reducing
CPU load. I have some ideas too about how it can be done w/out
introducing compatibility issues and I think I've shared those ideas
a few times in a few places.

Moving there in small steps would be advisible, IMHO.
If it was me in charge of doing it, I'd start by looking at the
internal callback timers (the addAdvanceCallback thing) and
then get to add a movie_root::nextEventTime() or similar,
giving an informed value for a safe naptime to take.
