Hello again,

on 22 June I already wrote about this urgent problem:

The pages in the GNU software directory entirely mix up the two
existing free Pascal compilers! This is causing trouble for the
developers and users of both compilers!

If it is not possible to correct the pages on a short time scale,
please remove them!

In detail: There are currently two free Pascal compilers around:

  - GNU Pascal (http://www.gnu-pascal.de)
is the Pascal compiler from the GNU family, copyrighted by the
FSF. GNU Pascal is linked against the GCC backend and is planned
to be integrated into GCC in the long run. It aims towards
portability in the same sense as GCC does, implements ISO
Pascal, Borland Pascal 7.0, plus parts of other Pascal standards
    or de-facto standards.

  - Free Pascal (http://www.freepascal.org)
is an independent GPLed Pascal compiler. It aims towards
compatibility with Borland Delphi and is portable to a
variety of i386- and m68k-based platforms.

There are two pages in the GNU Software Directory:

    http://www.gnu.org/directory/Software_development/Compilers/gpc.html
    http://www.gnu.org/directory/Software_development/Compilers/freePascal.html

Both contain the same - wrong - contents: The pages are pointing
GNU Pascal users to the Free Pascal mailing list and Free Pascal
users to the GNU Pascal web pages. They are mixing up maintainers
and developers of both compilers, attributing work and copyright to
the wrong person or institution. They are leading users to the wrong
channels for bug reports, etc.

At the moment, these pages are causing more harm than good. They
should either be corrected (using the information from the web pages
of both projects) or removed (and perhaps replaced by pointers to
the web pages of both projects).

    Peter
