Greetings, and thanks for your interest in GCL!

GCL supports both dialects of lisp, 'Common Lisp the Language 1'
(e.g. CLtL1) and ANSI, the latter of which is a work in progress. The
--enable-ansi switch to the configure program at compilation time
determines which flavor is built. On Debian systems, both images are
provided and are selectable at runtime by setting the GCL_ANSI
environment variable. I don't know where you got your rpm for redhat
installation, but perhaps they follow this procedure too.

If there are any difficulties with your rpm, you can generate one from
the Debian .deb package using the 'alien' program. Or you can
compile from GCL source if absolutely necessary. Perhaps you can let
me know from where you retrieved your package, and we can coordinate
with its maintainer. I use Debian myself, so GCL and debian are
usually pretty well coordinated.

Please let us know if problems persist.

Take care,
