Great!  But we need to workout the signalling I'm sure before we can
claim complete victory here.

This is just invoked from a shell script, gcl-tk/gcltksrv.  All we
need is an environment variable to toggle the pathname format.
Suggestions from the Windows gurus most appreciated.
