[Gcl-devel] configure fails with "Unterminated `s' command"

Greetings!  First please note that gcl-devel is subscriber only for

Secondly, there is something wrong with your emacs setup, as reported
in your configure log.  In general, a smooth gcl build requires the
following packages be installed:

Build-Depends: debhelper ( >= 4.1.0 ), emacs21 | emacsen, libreadline4-dev, m4, 
tk8.4-dev, tetex-bin, texinfo, binutils-dev, libgmp3-dev, autotools-dev

Barring your ability to install these, perhaps you might get a
workaround my making the directory:

/usr/local/libexec/emacs/21.2/i686-pc-linux-gnu
