Certainly pieces like

aren't OK.  And I think that the trouble is due to texinfo.tex
release.  You have texinfo.tex dated 1999-01-05 while mine is
older - 1999-09.  I'm not sure how these dates correspond to
texinfo version 4.1 or 4.2. In addition on my system texinfo.tex
belongs to tetex (1.0.7) package, not to texinfo.

Could you send me your texinfo.tex.gz by personal mail?
