Greetings, and thanks for the clarification.  I'm going to log this to
the task page at savannah.  Sounds like a good suggestion to be sure,
but it should take some time I'd think to check the defines, if there
are many, to make sure that they are being applied correctly.  For
example, WIndOWSNT && !(UNIX_CYGWIN) seems to indicate that both can
be detected in the same build -- do you not envision them as mutually
exclusive, at least for the purposes of the build?  If not, we need to
understand what the former and latter are separately meant to specify.
Also, and please forgive my ignorance here -- what are you referring
to by the 'rsym' stuff?

I agree completely that we ought to take a close look at how clisp
does this.  With some helpful feedback and testing from people like
you with these types of machines at hand, we ought to be able to get
something at least rudimentarily working soon.
