Happy New Year!

These are questions from the MFS Christmas Quiz 2018. Some questions
are slightly edited for clarity than those on the night and I added
"considers itself" to the successor to X question as it appears far from
certain that it will be.

1. In the initials GPL what does the initial G standard for?

2. What is the latest version number of the GPL?

3. Which project started first, Linux or GNU?

4. Is the Apache License 2.0 permissive or copyleft?

5. Is the Apache License 2.0 compatible with the latest version of the GPL?

6. What version of the GPL is Linux licensed under?

7. Linus Torvalds is famous in starting two projects; Linux and what else?

8. What initials / login is Richard Stallman known by?

9. What the initials GCC standard for has changed; what do the initials
now standard for?

10. When is Software Freedom Day each year?

11. What do the initials FSDG stand for?

12. What is the GNU kernel called?

13. Is the GNU kernel a micro kernel?

14. What non-free text editor was nano based off?

15. What group / project produces the most widely used Free Software X
server?

16. Which active project considers itself the successor to general
purpose X usage? (Hint: there were 2 projects.)

17. What is the short name / initials of the GNU bootloader?

18. What do the initials of the GNU bootloader standard for?

19. What Operating System did the GNU project originally base itself on?

20. What is the name of the kernel project that aims to remove non-free
elements from Linux?

There will be more details in the meeting announcement.

Cheers,
M.
