/(Final sanity check please!)/
Okay, so I found this, and its product image looks right:
https://mindmachine.co.uk/product/fru42x3804-fan-assy/
. On my current fan, on its down-facing side underneath the motherboard, there's a tiny label that shows this information: “
FRU P/N 42X3804
_ P/N 60.4B412.001
(_| | ® MCF-W01PAM05-1
C / |_| US cn DC5V / 0.2A
Made in China Rev. A01
Toshiba Home Technology Corporation
” (Layout and semigraphic approximated in monospace… err, except that K-9 Mail will no doubt piss about with the whitespace, so won't look right in /any/ font. 😔)
The relevant part seems to be the ‘42X3804’, so rather than using search terms like ‘"ThinkPad X60 Tablet" fan UK’, I searched for ‘42X3804 UK’ and eventually found what looks like a British supplier.
. However, with tax and shipping, the cost is over a 1/5 of the price that I bought the refurbished X60 Tablet for in the first place (about 250£). It doesn't seem right for a replacement fan to cost 53.52£.
. Also, the fan assembly in the ThinkPad X60 Tablet disassembly walkthrough that I mentioned (https://chasingmyccie.wordpress.com/2012/05/05/lenovo-x60-tablet-x60t-disassembly-fan-replacement/ ) has a different code on its label, as seen in 3 photographs towards the end, e.g.: https://chasingmyccie.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/20120505-115130.jpg The code is ‘41V9748’, which is quite different, so I'm wondering how many variants there are that fit the X60 Tablet, what are their differences, and whether searching for the other compatible variants will tap into a wider market and hopefully find a cheaper one.
. MindMachine doesn't have ‘41V9748’ and I can't find any other variant on their site by searching descriptively. Having a list of codes of compatible variants should really help to find a cheaper compatible fan, or even a better one if the variants differ in terms of design improvements.
. As a final sanity check, is 53.52£ a reasonable cost or do you think that it can be significantly reduced? Do you know of a cheaper supplier? Can you help me understand the different variant codes or find a list?
. Unless otherwise advised, I'll order this tonight, so please shout up if you know a better option!

Best regards,
James R. Haigh.

For getting the fan replaced you could try Manchester Repair Cafe:
http://www.stitchedup.coop/event/manchester-repair-cafe/all/
Next meeting is 10am-noon today! (11:30am is last repair start)
Oh, well I read this already too late, and even if I'd seen it immediately, I would've had to have reässembled and packed my laptop, got ready, and got to the station in time to buy a ticket for the 09:45 train, and be on the platform for 09:44, about 8 minutes after you sent your email! X-D

After that it is the morning before SFD2016 in Manchester:
"Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm"
Thank you. I didn't know that there was a monthly repair café in Manchester. I'll definitely aim to go along to that, not only to have some of my things fixed but also to bring back some repair skills so that I can better help the new Shrewsbury Repair Café, which so far has only had 1 session, is much less frequent, and doesn't yet have ‘schedule continuity’ (the property of the next session being scheduled and known to the participants at least before the end of each session).
. Come to think of it, I'll ask if they've decided on the next date yet, because they said that the 2nd session will probably be in September. Hopefully it'll be early in September so that I can fix my laptop earlier.

Also could try HACMan?
https://hacman.org.uk/
Thanks, that'll definitely be very useful one way or another.
