Hi all,
. I'm looking to buy a refurbished or reasonable-heath X60t as my current one has died recently and my attempt to fix it has so far been unsuccessful.
. Tier1Online discontinued the X60t many years ago; BMSoftware is unresponsive by email, their website has statements on it that are at least a couple of years out-of-date, and they still haven't complied with last year's new Ofcom regulations, so seemingly bust; and MiniFree discontinued the X60 range last year iirc. and never offered the Tablet anyway. I don't know of any other suppliers and I hate shopping on the Web so I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me source a decent X60 Tablet for about 250£ if refurbished (going on past price) or less if not refurbished depending on condition.
. It was the fan that broke so I ordered a new fan from here:
http://www.power4laptops.co.uk/p/ibm/thinkpad+x60+tablet/compatible+laptop+fan+388323
but it turns out that that plastic-cased fan doesn't look like it'll fit in the place that the current metal-cased fan is, and the packet that it came in doesn't say ‘Tablet’ on it, only ‘4150600 FAN X60 X61 FAN316F’. This kind of hassle is an example of why I hate Web shopping. My laptop is currently thoroughly dismantled and I'm not sure how to proceed. It doesn't look like I can open the existing worn-out fan's metal case and to remove the whole fan and heatsink complex, it seems that I'd have to detach it from the CPU, and of course reattach it afterwards, which I've never done before and am not confident with. Help with obtaining a new ThinkPad X60 Tablet fan would also be appreciated.
. Thirdly, if I could get a Debian chroot to work on my (currently unrooted) Android smartphone, that would also greatly help me while I don't have a laptop. Has anyone tried GNURoot? https://wiki.debian.org/ChrootOnAndroid#Other

Best regards,
James R. Haigh.
