Hi all,

The Manlug meeting for November 2012 is taking place on 17th November
(third Saturday as normal), details below:

Location: Madlab. (Manchester Digital Laboratory).
Address: 36-40 Edge Street, Manchester. M4 1HN. – (Between Thomas Street
and the Craft Centre, opposite A Bar Called Common)”
Date: Saturday, 17th November 2012
Starts: 14:00
Approximate finish: 17:00

Summary:

Martyn Ashworth from UK Fast has very kindly agreed to present an
in-depth talk on setting up a mailserver, protocols/daemons as below:

smtp - Postfix, possibly Exim
Pop3/Imap - Dovecot/Courier

The steps covered will be:

1/ Install Postfix/Exim and configure for outbound mail transmissions.
2/ Configure Postfix/Exim for inbound communications (single domain mail
server) and tune parameters.
3/ Install Dovecot/Courier and configure to connect to local mailboxes.
4/ Install MySQL database to allow for "virtualisation" of the domains /
mailboxes.
5/ Configure Postfix/Exim/Dovecot/Courier to utilise the database.

Distribution : Centos 6

Other points of note:

1/ Relevant SELinux settings may be included as well.
2/ There may also be a virtual machine available for each attendee to
follow along, please ensure you bring your netbook/laptop with you.

If you are thinking of attending please respond to address@hidden by
at least the Saturday before if possible to let me know so I can pass
onto Martyn the number of virtual machines required on the day.

Many thanks

Dan

PS, a voluntary contribution would be highly appreciated to assist our
good friends at Madlab in their day to day running costs.

PPS, please post this to other lists, advise friends and colleagues who
may be interested.
