Details
-------
This talk will be especially of interest to free software enthusiasts
and those wanting to analyse data. Though don't be concerned if the
statistics and programming seem too much because GNU R produces
beautiful graphs that all can appreciate and understand, see the GNU R
screenshots <http://www.r-project.org/screenshots/screenshots.html>.

"R is a system for statistical computation and graphics. It consists
of a language plus a run-time environment with graphics, a debugger,
access to certain system functions, and the ability to run programs
stored in script files. It is free software distributed under a
GNU-style copyleft, and an official part of the GNU project ("GNU S").

This talk will provide: an introduction to R, discussion of when (and
when not) to use R, and a guided tour of it's capabilities with examples."

Robin Gower is director of Infonomics Limited, economic consultant
and software developer. Robin has been using R for the past three years
providing analysis and visualisation for clients in public, private and
social sectors.
