I thought some people might be interested in this, as I know we have
quite a few people here who are keen to get involved in helping the
local community..

Hi everyone,

We're running an event in partnership with the MDDA at the MadLab
called 'Connect2Communities'. The idea is to have an informal fair for
community organisations, charities, and voluntary sector organisations
who are intimidated by or don't know where to begin with online
presences and social media.
We're hoping to have a few introductory talks before the event begins,
then we'll have an informal set of one-to-ones and and hands-on
support and tutorials for attendees from the non-technical sectors to
explain how to go about social media and online strategies, explain
why they'd want to do them, and best practices in implementing them,
as well as introducing your organisation or community group to those
who may not be aware of them, and generally sharing the skill,
knowledge and network outside our usual circles.

I know a few people on here are keen to help out the voluntary sector
and support charity and community groups - this is an idea
opportunity! We're planning to run the event on the 17th February,
from 2pm to 6pm at the MadLab (http://madlab.org.uk/). If you want to
get involved, let me know ASAP and let me know if you're interested in
speaking for a few minutes, operating a 'stand', or both!

If you know anyone else who may be interested in supporting this
event, please ask them to get in touch with me - address@hidden

Cheers, Dave Mee / MadLab /http://madlab.org.uk
