3D modelling, rendering and animation

There is also GAP (the GIMP animation plugin) and I understand there
are plans to extend inkscape so it can handle animation. Whilst not
strictly animation packages, I think you'll find these very handy too:

winff - Easy (batch) video conversion gui

DeVeDe - Creates DVD and other video discs from movie files

xawdecode / xdtv - Best linux app for analogue (v4l(2)) video capture
and mp4 streaming

handbrake - Nice gui for ripping DVDs

kdenlive - the future of foss video editing, also see cinelerra
