Manchester City Council will be holding an event to honour the memory
of computer pioneer Alan Turing, who was also one of Britain’s most
famous victims of homophobia.

The event will be held on Saturday 5 December at 12.45pm in Sackville
Gardens, Sackville Street in Manchester and will include speeches from
Graham Stringer MP, city centre spokesman Councillor Pat Karney,
Councillor Mary Murphy and representatives of those who campaigned for
a posthumous apology for the man described as the father of modern
computing.
