This is a reminder that the nominations for a new chairperson and

2009/10/2 Lucy <address@hidden>:
> Every six months we have an election for a new chairperson and a new
> treasurer of Manchester Free Software. The time has come for this
> election process to start again.
>
> I have been proud to be the chairperson of Manchester Free Software
> for the last 12 months. During that time I feel that we have achieved
> a lot, with plenty of exciting talks, two Software Freedom Day events
> and participation with local community groups. However, I feel that
> the time has come for me to step aside and let someone else direct the
> group. I do intend to stay involved though and you'll still see me at
> meetings.
>
> On a similar note, Matthew Morten has been the treasurer for
> Manchester Free Software over this last year and is also stepping
> aside.
>
> Candidate nominations for both positions are now open. People may
> nominate for themselves or others. Nominations should be sent to both
> address@hidden and address@hidden Nominations must be
> submitted before Friday 16th October.
>
> The chairperson is responsible for meetings, general co-ordination and
> is the group representative at various events. The treasurer handles
> the finances for the group as well as potentially dealing directly
> with the bank (although the plans for a bank account have been put on
> hold). As a result, the treasurer should be over 18 years of age.
>
> There will be a short period to confirm whether those nominated will
> be standing. The candidates will then be announced on or by Monday
> 19th October.
>
> The voting schedule is as follows:
> * Nominations submited before Friday 16th October.
> * Voting opens on Tuesday 20th October.
> * Votes to be submitted before Wednesday 4th November.
> * Votes tallied, announced.
> * Admin meeting + handovers on 9th November.
>
> Further details regarding the voting will be sent out nearer the time.
