I don't know if you're still looking, but I've heard of some (completely legit!) refurbished IBM ThinkPad's (2GHz dual core, 2GB RAM, 40GB HDD, combi drives, wireless etc) going at a really good price.

Two local companies can provide this: mine (!)  ie green h and one of my partner companies, Axiom Tech - both can provide support too, as well as a choice of new or second user equipment.

Sadly when one visits dell.co.uk/ubuntu they are less than fforthcoming
on how you can buy one of their GNU/Linux machines..
