I have thought about my freedom in this case...

I don't care if google know what RSS feeds I'm reading - it's all publicly available content anyway, and the service really isn't costing me anything to use. (the only reason I don't list all the blogs I read on my site is sheer quantity of them, and that I don't think others would be terribly interested). 

I can use it anywhere, and on multiple platforms. It's free enough for me :)

As for how nice a service it is, then that's a fair enough point. I hated it at first (especially compared to Bloglines) though now I love it, and wouldn't go back!). There's nothing I don't like about it that has spurred me to search for an alternative. Maybe one day...
