I just noticed this - it's interesting to say the least...

Your thoughts?

Hi, Folks,

The next meeting of the new, as yet unnamed, organisation will take
place on Monday 23rd February, 7.30 p.m., at nti, Leeds Metropolitan
University, Old Broadcasting House, 148 Woodhouse Lane, Leeds LS2 9EN.
For directions, map and instructions to get there, visit
http://www.ntileeds.co.uk/find-us/

Whilst there, it may be worth clicking on the link labelled os4b on the
left of the page to see how their initiatives overlap with and
complement ours, offering scope for collaboration and information sharing.

David Carpenter kindly took notes at the last meeting. These are
available on a Google Docs posting - please contact either David or me
for a link.

At the meeting on 23rd Feb we will have just about an hour to conduct
our business. We must be out of the building by 8.45 p.m. I suggest an
introduction for newcomers after which we focus upon choosing a name and
establishing a steering committee to get the thing rolling properly.

The newly elected members of steering committee will organise its first
meeting, register a domain, set up appropriate site, lists, etc,
register the body with appropriate authorities and make a start on
mapping the way forward. For anyone not familiar with the discussions to
date, the objective is to establish the Open Source brand among targeted
market groups and/or niches using a trade association sort of structure
and to produce marketing materials for use of members. Members will be
business owners and sole traders working in the private sector earning
their living from Open Source. Members may have customers in any sector.

Looking forward to seeing you on 23rd Feb,

Mike Goodman
