Here are the ITWG-relevant minutes from the last Basement meeting. It'd
be really great if we could get a bunch of people interested in the
Basement IT cluster along to the next meeting.

The next Basement meeting will be on Monday 4th February 2008, at the
Manchester Digital Development Agency [1] on Portland Street in central
Manchester, from 7pm to 9pm.

Since the Basement closed, the ITWG has had communications issues,
caused by people leaving Manchester, flakey mailing list servers
etc.

It had been hoped that the ITWG would spin off a more general group to
promote free software (referring to freedom rather than price) in
Manchester. Since the flood, such a group has been set up independently
by Matt Lee of the Free Software Foundation. The FSUK Manchester group
has aims which dovetail nicely with the IT Working Group, and it
represents a new, large group of volunteers.

The ITWG is hoping to obtain grants from the FSF and UKFSN for hardware
and an Internet connection once the Basement reopens. We need to perform
an audit of ITWG equipment and report back (this needs to be done by
other Basement groups as well).

The FSUK project is providing hosting for a new mailing list and
ticketing system for the ITWG, which will be more reliable than current
infrastructure.
