I'm Paul, currently writing up my dissertation in Ancient World Studies
in the School of Classics and Ancient History at the University of
Manchester. Last July I completed my three year penal sentence in the
School of Computer Science, and I've been a member of ManLUG, UKUUG and
the IET for about the same amount of time, so I have been knocking arund
the Manchester technical scene for a while.

I occasionally do freelance IT work of various types, and I've got a
company set up to transfer everything to once I leave academia.

I've been a GNU webmaster in the past as well, mostly dealing with
incoming emails, but I stopped for a while as I had to spend time on
that pesky degree thing. I've used Linux for about seven years now, with
a bit of BSD thrown in for good measure, and my distros of choice are
Ubuntu on desktops and Debian on the three server machines I admin.
