In case it's of interest. I wrote an editorial for kerneltrap.org on the
Linux kernel, DRM, and what is in GPLv3:

It's a look at the options open and trying to please everyone.
In earlier drafts, I described DRM'd hardware as "hardware rigged to
malfunction when it detects modified software" - which lead to a new
expansion for DRM: Devices Rigged to Malfunction :-)
