I believe that this time it's the ones in the Free Software Community who votes for one single desktop environment for GNU/Linux who is rattling their sables a bit louder than usually. But I don't agree with them. This "shotgun policy" needed to enforce just one environment would have far reaching consequences, to far for anyone to comprehend, And to be honest I think the Free Software Community is too diverse for people to agree on just one way of doing things.
